Error on initial navigation

Jun 7, 2007 at 3:51 PM
I've gotten the project installed (but obviously not correctly). When I navigate to the TFS Connector Administration site I get this error "This operation could not be successfully performed. Please contact the administrator and refer to HandlingInstanceID: f3b93aa2-53b1-4201-bf27-f6d33a2e0eac".

Any thoughts?

I've only been able to get it to work when logged onto the machine that is hosting it

Go to the event log on the connector machine and search for the HandlingInstanceId with that Guid. That should have more details about the issue that occurred.

Thanks.

Now I can get a little further in the process. When I try to create a new project now I get this:

So, you're trying to create Project Association; right? What is the name of ProcessTemplate (e.g., MSF for Agile, MSF for CMMI, etc) for the TFS project that you are trying to associate?

It seems like the Connector may be having some kind of issue getting the ProcessTemplate for your team project. I haven't seen this happen in our tests. Can you provide more information about your team project; the name, Uri, process template, etc?

Thanks,
Lenny

We are also having this same problem.

The first Project Association we made worked fine. Then I created a new TFS project with our custom ProcessTemplate.

In what database do I want to look for all of the information you requested?

I'm pretty sure the project was created with a Template that got corrupt and we had to remove and re-add. Does anyone know what table this information is stored in so that maybe we can manually fix the ProcessTemplate link.

I assume this is for TFS 2008, right? If so, I am aware of the issue and I am currently working on a resolution to this. I expect to post an update to the Connector to support TFS 2008 within the next few weeks.

thanks.. will be waiting for the resolution

I am experiencing the same road block with installing the TFS Connector.

To repro here is how I set things up:

1. Create a new Team Project in TFS (Agile Template)
2. Open Project Professional 2007 and import Work Items
3. Publish the project to Project Server 2007
4. Install the connector
5. Try to associate the PS Project with the TFS Project from the connector’s website

6. Hit save and get an error regarding null templates

Please check out http://blogs.msdn.com/lfenster/archive/2008/02/14/getting-a-process-template-for-a-team-project-in-tfs-2008.aspx. You may need this to upgrade your existing projects to use the Connector for TFS 2008 (due to be released very soon!!!)
