Error during setup

Hello, I am trying to install the connector on a 2 Tier setup and have successfully installed the first 2 items. However when I try to install the TFS Connector the setup fails and I get the following in my .log file. Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

This usually occurs if you haven't filled in all teh dialog boxes when installing it. Can you verify that you filled in all the dialog boxes during the install?

Yes, on the screen where you choose installation options I chose Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Team Foundation Server installation component.

Then I entered my Connector Machine Name, which is the same as my TFS Server Name and left the port number at 80.
Next I used the Domain Level TFSSERVICE account and entered my password, both are the same as I used in steps 1 and 2 of the setup.

Then I selected Install and it fails pretty quickly.

My setup is a VM'd TFS 2008 Server and a VM'd Project 2007 Server.

Any other suggestions on this problem I'm having? I've tried several other ways since my last post but to no avail just the same message.

I know you are working on the next release but I would appreciate any suggestions. On that note, do you have an idea when the next release will come?

Thank you.

There are really just two things the Connector install does for the TFS portion:
  • create two process templates
  • set up a subscription to the Connector Web Service for the WorkItemChangedEvent

Can you check to see if any of these have been successfully installed/configured?

Also, check out to see if it may be the same issue.

Hi, I am having the same problem, this time with Connector 3.0.

Single-Server install of TFS, first two components of Project TFS Connector install just fine, just the TFS Connector fails, right as it attempts to install the process templates.

The log shows exactly the same as in the first post on this issue.

Can anyone help ? Log not giving any hint to the cause of the problem is really terrible in trying to fix this.

Its an installation on Server 2008, with TFS 2008.

You need to install the Team Explorer component on your TFS server even if you are installing the TFS Connector Component on a 2008 TFS Server.  The installer uses the Team Explorer APIs
